“Grief is a practice, not a problem to fix…a practice of holding on and letting go, of letting in and letting out…a practice of being human.” -Monique Minahan, The Grief Practice
This is a virtual grief support and process group for younger adults (ages 18-35) who are mourning the death of a loved one and looking for a supportive space to process their bereavement and grief journey with others who are going through a similar experience. The goal of this group is to provide a safe, warm environment to reflect on and share personal experiences with grief; process the unique death and loss of parental figures as a younger adult; and work towards finding meaning in and through these losses. The majority of our time together will be a blend of individual and group reflection focused on emotional processing and making meaning of grief and loss experiences; we will also share and learn coping tools and grief rituals to integrate grief in a healthy, sustainable way and to honor our loved ones. Our hope and intention in group is to build community and feel more grounded and present in our minds and bodies in relation to our grief and loss experiences.
Some private insurance plans are accepted; out of pocket cost per session is $35, and limited sliding scale spots are available upon request. We ask for at least an 8-session commitment, with the option to continue longer; open to anyone residing in Illinois.
