Friday Unwind: Tea + Guided Relaxation

with Suzette Hammond of Being Tea

There's beautiful magic in a soothing cup of warm tea, especially at the end of a long day or week. Through the study of tea, we know that it calms mental chatter, creates a deep sense of centering, and connects us to our senses. Tea is also an ideal tool for guiding relaxation, especially for individuals for whom slowing down and being still is challenging. In fact, tea has been used as an intuitive guide for mindfulness practice for thousands of years – and now, you can learn, too!

Join us for Friday evenings this autumn, as we create a regular space for easy unwind and release of stress from the week, while nourishing mind and body with tea. Centered in a seasonal theme, we'll integrate traditional/cultural teachings of tea with aspects of yogic practice and sensory awareness development. No expertise in tea or meditation is required - everyone who enjoys tea and wants to learn more about mindfulness is very welcome!

What can you expect each month?

  • Mindful, guided tastings with a delicious variety of new teas

  • A soothing, lighthearted evening of play and exploration

  • Interactive and hands-on experience preparing tea mindfully

  • Philosophy and themed teachings around incorporating tea into daily life

  • Easy to follow, highly adaptable techniques for regular practice. Just 10 minutes a day makes a difference!

Please note: We will be working with traditional teas from the tea plant - Camellia sinensis - not herbal or medicinal teas. This includes types like green tea, white tea, oolong tea, black tea, and fermented teas. They do have some natural caffeine. A variety of types with a wide range of energetic quality will be offered each month, so you can choose what’s right for you that day.
