Lauren is a long-time student of yoga, beginning her practice at the age of 15. She turned to a deeper exploration of yoga after she injured her knee while training for the Chicago Marathon in 2006. A vigorous vinyasa practice allowed Lauren to connect to her body and mind in a way she had only previously achieved while running. After her father passed away in 2007, her practice evolved from a solely physical outlet into a healing source for her body, mind and spirit with the incorporation of meditation and various breathing techniques. Yoga provided her with tools to self regulate and create calm in her body and mind. Lauren completed her 200-hour teacher training at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago. The training was truly an eye-opening and a life-changing experience. She discovered her life’s passion – teaching yoga. Lauren also has training in Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy, and continues to learn how yoga can be used to treat anxiety, depression and PTSD. In her classes she strives to create an environment where students can explore and expand their physical body and inner awareness, cultivate mindfulness, and create calm on and off the mat.
